Kimia Pishdadian is an Iranian artist originally from Isfahan, Iran, and now living in Paris. She started to paint watercolour from ten years old, leading her first solo exhibition at the age of only fifteen. Thereafter, she chose to take art seriously, which she now pursues full time.

Referencing her Culture

Kimia Pishdadian is heavily influenced by the Persian and Oriental art of her home country. She visualises the world with an abundance of colour, which is omnipresent in her work. Pishdadian endeavours to communicate to the world the beauty of culturally inspired art to promote acceptance and tolerance to encourage a more harmonious world.

Gathering her resources

Pishdadian firstly conducts research about her subject matter, utilising a variety of sources including photography books, digital images and her travels. She then selects certain elements from each source which informs the basis of her work. She prefers to use different mediums including: acrylic, mixed media and watercolour to indicate a new series. This allows her to experiment and evolve her artistry.

An Emerging and International Iranian Artist

Kimia Pishdadian has gained recognition through her participation in exhibitions such as: The Watercolor Group Exhibition, Tehran; Belgrade, Serbia and The Royal Watercolor Society’s contemporary watercolour competition 2016, London.
